Operating Principle

The device contains Y-90 in radioactive equilibrium with its long-lived parent nuclide Sr-90. The beta radiation is absorbed within the metal syringe and creates bremsstrahlung radiation. This bremsstrahlung enables the simulation of Y-90 in a dose calibrator

The 29 year half-life of Sr-90 means you can perform regular dose calibrator checks with minimal adjustment for decay
